My brother has a Scofield revolver model 1873-with 5 1/2 inch barrel, blued, break open eject, serial number 3117. Any body have an idea what it might be worth?

If it's a 'real' 5" barrel, it would probably be marked W.F & Co., if so it should be worth a couple thousand, but the original 7" barrel with U.S. markings could bring 3 to 5 thou depending on condition; without government markings (commercially offered) would bring a bit more. I'm no expert on these but have owned several and that's about what I sold them for, the market may be much more or even less than this, but it should give you an idea.

Without pictures showing barrel markings and other identifying marks, it really can't be appraised...sorry.
