    THE MATRIX HAS YOU NOW!

But all kidding aside: Sweet Jesus prevailed again, in the highest court in the land. Nay - the highest court in the World! The Supreme Court agrees that Corporations are People, and have a right to political speech through contributions! This is indeed a great day. Almight God has smitten down our enemies, and smiled upon us.

It's brilliant. First, we establish equal rights for Unions and Corporations. But then...we wipe the Unions OUT, one at a time, through the work of Good Governors like Scott Walker - and FREE TRADE will do the rest! The Corporations are left as last man standing! We are now a step closer to that day when The Law reprimands the Enemies of America, and restores this great land to a Nation of Right-Thinking people. Today was an important step, and we should celebrate.

(Can you feel that boot heel pressing down a _little_ bit harder against your neck, Trappy?)

And when the corporations, with their right to make enormous political donations, have reached the point where they own ALL the politicians, and start getting laws passed which infringe on you and yours, but are good for the corporation's bottom line, what will you say?

When the day comes they limit donations of Unions and Hollyweird, then you can limit the donations of corporations, which Hollyweird and Unions are anyway, and they already own Washington DC.

I would worry more about how much lobbyist can spend first. I think they do more harm than what any corporation or union donations can do.

I do agree with Rick, if you limit one you limit them all.

That is the biggest problem with the present state of democracy; it is all about the money. If you have the most money, you have the most power, and that applies equally to special interest groups and political parties, regardless of their political stripe. Decisions are based on "Who paid for it?", not "What is best for the country?" The posturing between parties, arguing over details, is just advertising how well they fight for their funding. If the parties were truly interested in public service, and were truly interested in providing the citizens who elected them with true representation, the huge differences of position would vanish, to be replaced with minor disagreements over implimentation of bills passed.

It seems that people get elected for the money, as well. How many average income citizens are elected? How many wealthy people? How are their finances after a couple terms in office, compared to before being elected? It is truly amazing how a political figure, who has their wealth in a blind trust, can have it increase far more than anyone else's not in office, during the same time frame. Obviously, we should all be giving their asset managers our money to invest, so we can get those huge returns, as well.

Until a system is in place to restrict monies paid into the political system to a common fund, which is distributed equally to all parties, with no attribution attached, the present buying of votes will continue.

I don't believe that there is any system, however, that can restrict the flow of (legal or illegal) money into political causes, that can't be circumvented. Special interests have been subverting the political process for many, many years now, and they are very good at it. No party will accept a system which will curtail their ability to access the endless flow of money, to the party, or to the elected official, and thus lessen their grasp on whatever power they have to access more money.

Give an equal amount of taxpayer money to all candidates to fund elections. No freakin way does that make sense. Then we will only have socialist or communist winners because the liberal media will support the socialists with unlimited air time. Oh, lets limit them too while were at it. Why not just declare Obubba a dictator and do away with elections altogether?

Despite the braying of bozos like John McCain, money is not evil and is, in fact, free speech just as the supreme court says it is. There has always been money in politics and there always will be despite stupid laws to try to eliminate it. The best thing to do would be to eliminate all restrictions on who can contribute to who and how much and just make all contributions subject to full disclosure as to who is providing money to who.

Corporations are not real Patriots and friends of the American people. During Vietnam they gave us Agent Orange and the corporate kiddes ran to Canada and France. Remember what happened the last time someone said Let Them Eat Cake.

How many corporations, big ones, are friendly to or support shooting guns. I really don't think they give a damn about those of us urging gun rights. The ones who support guns may only be the ones selling them.

Yes, Bill, there is no reason to limit unions anymore than any others so long as the money is given to them freely by their members and not appropriated from members or others required to pay dues who aren't members.
