What is the definition of a sand bagger in the trap world? I have been called a sand bagger at my monthly club shoots.
I have been shooting trap since March of this year. I shoot at the 21 yard line for handicap, where the club put me. I have been finishing 1st or 2nd every time I shoot in a club shoot.
It is a very small club, 20 participants on a monthly basis.
So, am I a sand bagger?

    Thanks,

    Ken

If you are intentionally missing targets to avoid getting a punch or to get a reduction then you are a dreaded sandbagger. If you try to hit every target that leaves the house you are not. It sounds like you are just better than most of the shooters you are competing against and they need an excuse for shooting under what it takes to win or beat you. JRM

I have never missed a target on purpose, or let one go that surprised me either. I have progressed faster than I anticipated, but I practice every weekend at a different club, which has helped me improve. Some of the guys I shoot against have been doing this a long time and have said they do not think I started shooting trap in March, but that is when I started.

Thanks for the feedback, I will chock it up to the learning curve at a small club.

Maybe I will shoot from the 24 next month and still do well, I practice from the 24 anyway.

Nank, If you are winning at handicap, with 15 or more shooters, you should be getting punched ! therefore not staying on the same yardage, providing your shooting register. targets.
