S&W N-frame..... with a 37mm barrel!

    OK, here's something you don't see every day. A S&W N-frame with a 37mm barrel. It was designed to launch tear gas, but it can fire 37mm flares as well.

    I've collected S&Ws for 30 years and never knew S&W made anything like this.

    Single shot .22 target made by Colt on an Officers model match target.

    The 37mm was made by S&W for Lake Erie Chemical which was a
    division of Smith & Wesson. They made tear gas grenades, flare guns,
    line throwers. etc. Smith & Wesson ammunition was also made
    at the same facility in Rock Creek, Ohio.

    Our agency had a couple of these gas guns, both on the N-frame and the long barrelled versions. Also ten S&W model 76 sub-guns. They were 9MM and they would rock and roll. That was a long time ago! Rick Gibbs

    The second picture barfin posted is a line throwing gun. Much the same as one I used many years ago(not a S&W), but being a S&W, the one posted is a better looking, more expensively produced piece.

    I like that buttstock on the gas gun Barfin posted. I've always wanted to do the paperwork to make an SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) out of a S&W K-22 and N frame 357. They'd be pretty fun for small game and coyotes.
