The Multi Lakes summer league starts off on May 7th and we are looking for more teams. It is a three man league (A, B and C shooter on team) that is run every tuesday night at 6pm and is a 50 bird event. Afterwards, there is a tailgate party with food and drink. It's a guaranteed GREAT time! If you don't have a complete team, we'll work on putting you on one. The cost is $175 for members and and $260 for non members and it goes on for 12 weeks, ending with a banquet and trophies. Come shoot with some real characters!

The club is located at 3860 Newton Road in Commerce Township

If interested, please contact me at my website.

    Tron,

You forgot to tell them that our Clays course covers about 1/2 mile of prime territory. We have a very well maintained course and many challenging presentations. That is not to mention the "characters" that participate, heck I might even shoot that league this year. So, com'on you guys that are within reasonable driving distance---come join us!

What hours are they normally open for sporting? Can we shoot if we don't belong to the league?

    Setterman,

Yes you can shoot without belonging to the league. Hours are 4 til dark on Tue and Thur. and 10 am til 4 Saturdays, also noon til 6 on Sundays. However, Check the website to be certain. I have been wrong one other time, I think. LOL

    BTW,

This will be a first for me. I have belonged to MLCA for 30 years and have never shot this Clays course. I shot our old course once.

Rosey, it's worth your drive just for the entertainment factor. You have never met a group of guys like this, I guarantee it!

Is this the one where if you get a perfect score instead of throwing your hat in air and shooting it you use a cat??

...and they only shoot 50 targets per evening so as to have plenty of time for the food and beer afterwards.

The following is a list of must-have items for shooting the Sporting Clays course at Drunken Lakes during the summer -

    - Hip boots
    - 6 gallons of 100% DEET
    - A welding mask (so you can see the targets at stations 10-12 at that time of day)
    - Winch for your cart. A chainsaw wouldn't hurt either. Never know when the course will be improved with fallen trees or 100 yards of slag rock.
    - Three deep cycle batteries. (at least that many will croak half way through your squad)
    - Tool box (how do you think those 20 year old traps get maintained?)
    - Flak Jacket and Kevlar helmet (usually only need this on station 10)

It's a great way to get out of the house on a Tuesday, but don't come expecting a Fenton Lakes, Bald Mountain, or Grand Blanc type experience. The course sucks but the beer is usually cold and the personalities make it worthwhile.

I know Tron has also actively been recruiting in the spirit diversity to attempt to make the club more approachable to the many millions of disenfranchised urbanites found in the greater Detroit area. He's a hell of a guy.

I can't believe Fenton is rated higher! ML must have really slid since I was there about 5 years ago.
