I had a couple of my guns in gun cases for 5 days while on a trip. When I removed them they had a number of rust spots. Is there a decent way to remove these rust spots? Thanks. Ed

There are several products out there that will take care of it for you. I use Clenziol and is the best I have ever used. If it is a light rust it can be wiped on and rust will come right off and will leave the blueing. If it is fairly deep then get a stainless steel pot scrubber called a Chore Boy and use the Clenzoil with it. I've also used 4 ought steel wool with the clenziol and works great on light stuff. If it is suface rust just use the cloth and Clenziol. Most of this I learned from other guys here on TS.com, tried it and worked well. Jackie B.

SSShooterZ, I think most gun stores carry it but if you don't have any luck finding it, email me at the address above and I will mail you some. The first time I saw it the guy had some nails that had been in the ocean and he had a jar of Clenzoil with a hole in the lid and stuck the nail in it. You could physically see the rust falling off the nail. I got a sample and tried it on an antique gun that someone had let rust and it took the rust right off leaving the coloring of the old metal. I was impressed. Jackie B.

I use a brass brush and a good bore solvent. Brass will not hurt the blue. Bore solvent will remove any brass marks.

Would Clenzoil be safe to use in the bore of a shotgun? I don't see why not, just wanted to make sure, though.

You can definitely use Clenzoil in the bore and it is not supposed to affect the stock should it happen to get on it. Jackie B.
