Roy Rogers shot trap, as did his son Dusty. I saw a photo of them on the line, probably mid 60's. I also saw a photo of him with Clark Gable's M12, engraved, gold, the works. Roy had it hanging by metal hooks on pegboard.

Kenny Rogers' father name was Edward, and he was a carpenter, not an actor.

Roy Rogers was in a 16 yard shootoff at the Grand, in Vandalia, back in the 60s. He broke a 198. My friend Jimmy Loughran, now past, was the NJ delegate who refereed the shootoff.

Roy Rogers, cowboy actor/singer, was born Leonard Franklin Slye in 1911 in Cincinnati, Oh.

Kenneth(Kenny)Ray Rogers was born in 1938, in Houston, Tx.

Neither Bio. lists them as related!

Blue even though you are only doing a little fishing I wouldn't want you to go home empty handed so I included the web address for Roy Rogers official Biography.

If you take the time to read it you see that Roy raised many children. However he fathered 3 children of his own 2 with his first wife and 1 with Dales Evans.

Interestingly enough none of his children or adopted children were named Kenny.

The model 12 that Roy had was his own, engraved by Angelo Bee. When I was seven or so my aunt took me to the LaCanada gun club. Roy was there shooting with Clark Gable, who preffered english doubles. My aunt, an old friend of both gentlemen introduced me and it was the thrill of my young life to actually hold Roy Rogers shotgun in my hands. I was too small to shoot it though. I now own and shoot regularly a model 12 trap. No engraving though.

    Not true Hollywood Marine.

I have shot many times at Apple Valley gun club. Roy and his son Dusty would sometimes shoot the pot shoots before Easter and Thanksgiving. I had a Perazzi single barrel with a release trigger and he was shooting his model 12. We exchanged guns once so he could try my release trigger. I shot his model 12. It still had Clark Gables name plate on the gun. And he told me the story of how he aquired it after Clark had shot a poor round with the gun.

There is a picture of Roy and his 12 in the Madis model 12 one of 1000 book. It sure is a beauty. Back in the sixties, he was in Mitchell, South Dakota and shot at the Mitchell Gun Club. They have several pictures of him when he was there.
