There are really only 2 alternatives as to why Justice Roberts voted as he did:

The first is that he really believed that the facts supported his conclusions and that they complied with the "requirements" of the Constituition. While we might disagree with this, he should be lauded as courageous IF this were the reason since he knowingly went against his supposedly conservative philosophy to "do the right thing".

The second is that he did this for some external reasons unrelated to the merits of the case like "preserving the reputation of the Court", for example.

If he did it for the second reason, he is an unreliable Justice and violated his oath of office. There are no other possible conclusions.

ps Many of the Justices take extended trips during the Court's recess. Some of them use the time to write books.

Why have we not been informed of the travel plans of the other 8 Justices?

I wonder if the conservative justices feel as back stabbed as we do.

While he's in the neighborhood, Roberts might consider spending some time in Greece and Spain. That way he can see first hand what happens to countries that embrace socialized economies.

He's probably visiting his new "Clearing House Sweepstakes" bank account.

You guys are nuts. It was a vacation. His opinion was issued on the last day of the current session.

    OR

You guys are right on. He was a secret socialist Liberal working with Obama all along and wants to make our God loving USA a communist puppet state of Cuba. Or China, whatever.

    Grow up.
