Gary Nixon passed away yesterday. He was one of the true legends on two wheels and was fast on the dirt as well as the asphalt. Those of you fortunate enough to watch him race a motorcycle know exactly what I'm talking about. He was also one of the nicest guys in the paddoc and tried to greet everyone with a smile even if he was having a bad day. His contributions to flat track racing is unmeasurable.

Sorry to hear about his passing. He certainly owned the fair circuit in his day. Had he been ill?

He had a heart attack about a week ago and had been hospitalized since.

Wasn't he featured in the movie "ON ANY SUNDAY" on the big oval tracks? Jim

    Nixon wa definitely a legend.

Dave Aldana -- Another legend. Haven't thought about those cool skeleton leathers in years.

Nothing personal about this, but at one time I hated Nixon simply because he rode a Triumph. Bart Markel was my man back in those days. No one could beat Bart at Louisville Downs !!!!

R,I,P, Gary you were a tough one to handle.
