I have made a rib for one of my beginning shooters.

I have tried several double sided tape mountings to no avail.

All come loose after 5 to 10 shots.

What compound can I use to affix an aluminum rib to a steel barrel.

I know the deep well of knowledge on this site will geve me the answer I seek.

    Thanks in advance.

PS: Take the little woman to see the movie "Safe Haven".
Filmed in my town of Southport NC. Watch closely you will see me in the crowd.

i use automotive double back tape--clean surface w/ alcohol-- heat the barrel and rib with a hair dryer before sticking the tape--clamp on with multiple points of pressure and let set for several hours -- meadow industries who sell the addon gun sight acessories have an excellent tape they will sell-but you have to have both items warm and then secure tight until it cools--

All my ribs that I've installed on customers guns are done with RTV black silicone gasket maker. You can find it in about any automotive section or auto parts store.

Really simple to use, clean rib and barrel with alcohol, run a bead of the silicone down the length of the rib, and stick the add on rib to the barrel. Though you have to be careful how much silicone you use as it can get a little messy if you use too much.

    Hope this helps.

Take advantage of that offer from Ray at Stock Positioning aka ADD-A-RIB.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Now that you are a movie star can I have your autograph? Just put it on the bottom of a blank check:)

Are you putting the rib over an existing rib or trying to stick it to a round bbl? Might need to shape the bottom to get enough contact surface.

See you in May. You can bring the autograph with you, no sense of wasting a stamp and envelope. Patience is one of my virtues.

    Will try the RTV.

Rib has three spacers in it, (aka "Ventilated").

Think I will add more, probably not enough contact points rib to bbl.

Thanks for everyones input, except the blank check comment from my smarta-- brother..Det131.
