I voted for Mitt but I don't understand why the Republican party is so protective of the very rich. Under the Bush tax cuts, the top 1% gained an average of 46 million dollars each from his tax cuts over the 10 years the cuts were in effect. Was this necessary? Don't you think this alenated the middle class? It also added to our huge deficit.

Currently, the Republican party is stonewalling the continuation of the tax cuts unless the cuts also apply to the very rich. The wealthy got enough of a break over the past 10 years. Let them revert back to the previous tax rate before Bush.

You like so many others, believe the lies you have heard about Republicans, bur I am not going to try to correct you.

People do not understand the difference between equal protection under the law and taking what does not belong to them.

It is just like the kids and Halloween candy. One kid covers six blocks collecting candy. Another covers 12 blocks. Take all candy put it in a pile and give it to all the 20 kids on the block, regardless that only two did the work.

All is good, Obama is in charge for another 4 years mow, sit back and enjoy it.

Rick, what are the lies? Did not the Bush tax cuts provide the $46 million each to the top 1%? Are you against all taxes? Open your eyes and see the facts.

I am for a flat tax provided:

    1) There is a constitutional amendment to operate under a balanced budget

    2) There is a set acrossed the board cut on every budget item of equal measure to meet the budget when there is a shortfall of tax revenue.

This will prevent the increase of the flat tax rate, eliminate the ability of lobbyists to tempt politicians to vote for BS spending, and make the government live within its means.

In times of crisis such as war or defense require a super-majority vote by the House and Senate to stray from this, with it reverting automatically to the former levels after a 6 month period, unless extended by super-majority vote for each successive 6 month period. A Reprsentative could not vote for more than 4 successive periods and then they would face re-election, and hopefully unless there was a good reason, they would be voted out.

This is probably flawed but, a possible starting point. A flat tax will do us no good if there are no limits to the spending, government will simply raise the rate. However, I think there would be a lot more people vote for candidates who had this platform and would stick with it. I know I would.

    Yeah, right tomc66.

You still fail to see the point.

Why is government greed better than private or corporate greed?

What entitles the government to take more from those to make more?

Why is it that those who make more are obligated to pay more for the reckless spending of a greedy government?

Do us a favor next time, vote Democrat.

The Republican Party is out of business.

The Bush tax cuts account for less than 5% of the national debt (not the deficit which is calculated on an anual basis). The national debt is a borrowing and spending problem not a taxation problem. Using our current situation, it has been estimated that if the Government took every penny that these supposedly "super rich" people have, we could only run the Government about 95 days! Of course, after that there would be no more super rich at all and no more to tax. Note also that there has never been a precise definition of "rich or "super rich." Is a family living in LA with a combined income of $250K rich? I doubt it.

It's popular to throw rocks at wealthy, smart and successful and often lucky people in or Country but it falls right into the Democratic Party's strategy to divide us along racial and wealth/income lines. Mitt Romney was demonized and villified because he worked hard and made lots of money.

Take a look at the percentage and amount of the total income taxes collected and you'll see a reversal of percentages, i.e, a small percent of people paying a large amount of the total. Take a look at who donates the most to charity. Obama and Democrats toss the words "fair" and "fair share" around a lot but have never defined what constitutes either.

If the Bush tax cuts go away, let them go away for everyone so we can get more tax dollars. How can anyone, Democrats or otherwise, state that the Bush tax cuts are bad for the economy and then turn around and say that they should be reinstated, except for a few super rich people?

$46 million over 120 years averages out to $4.6 million a year. Those guys donate more than that to charity every year. What do you think will happen if they get pissed off at the people they are donating to because those same people are demonizing them for being successful? My Dad, a former Boatswain's Mate with only a high school education would call that "shi**ing in your own mess kit."

    tom...

Social Security and food stamps are apples to oranges.

Social Security...I work and through taxes put money into Social Security and get that money later in life.

Food Stamps...I don't work, I don't put any money into any program (taxes or otherwise) and I get that money anyhow.

    See the difference

lets put it this way your neighbor needs help would you try and help ? I dont think many would think twice so why is it so wrong to think and ask the Richest People in the Country to help at least until we are out of this mess ?Everyone else is having a hard time, retirees that work their entire life, newly weds, single parent mothers that are working it goes on and on ! Obama won for one reason and the Republican party hasnt figured it out yet and I believe never will he listens to the AVERAGE Person ! if Congress would work for all of us instead of saying Our 1st order of Business is making sure Obama is not reelected we would already be out of this mess ! If Romney would have explained how he was going to create 10 million jobs instead of bashing the President he may have gotten more votes if the whole party would have LISTENED to Womens Rights maybe they would have got more votes just maybe if Romney would not of had his head up his ass he would have won ! Now I know plenty of you wont like this at all to bad ! You will have to wait another four years But had Romney won I would have given him all my support because he won ! Stop crying and act like you really care about AMERICA

IMO... to have a healthy check and balance Democratic process, we need to have two healthy political parties. I want that as an American. The Republican Party, one that I voted for many, many times and did so again yesterday on the local level, needs to remove the few leaders like Rush, Glen, Sean, Ann and Karl and then move forward in tune with the twenty-fist century and those who live in it. Most of all, they should realize after major political failures that the startegy of "fear, smear and queers" does not work. There are many Republicans that can carry the mantle namely Jeb Bush at the top of the list. When they convince the people of the United States that they are qualified to represent the masses and not the few, then they will move forward with many of us in tow.

Blade believes the same lies you do that have been said about the Republican Party.

Those "leaders" he refers to, have never used those terms to define people, in public at any time, and Blade can never find any evidence to prove it.

Even after his side won, they still persist in lying about the Republicans. Democrats talk about hate all the time, they have the market cornered on it.
They must still be afraid of us.

Just like you, Blade819 is an IDIOT..

I watched a lady at the grocery store purchase her selections with her EBT card today. She appeared to be in her mid thirties. She was carrying a smart phone, she was obese, and when she left, she did so in her newish Chrysler 300. I paid cash, I have a 5 year old flip phone, and my Ford Ranger is a 1995 model with 335,000 miles on the odometer. I also work a 12 hour schedule with a 140 mile round trip commute.

WTF is wrong with this picture?

    22hornet,

Welcome to the Obama answer. He keeps his voters nursing on the titty. Guaranteed votes you see. Why do you think the Muslim got OH? I'll tell you why, OH leads the Country in Obama phones. Sure unemployment numbers look better. They are on welfare instead. That fat pig you saw at the grocery store has probably never worked a day in her life. Hell, she probably learned from her welfare parents.

Guess we might as well get us a phone too. Heck, I need groceries too. Where do I get the food stamps?

Won't be long they will need a house and electricity and heat and a car with gas and on and on---The 47% will be 55% by the next election---Socialism is here.
The republican party is dead unless we adopt the social society of the left.
They now want us to reach them cross the isle---If we give in to them they will throw us a bone---I say the hell with them---Stick to our values and go down with the ship---JMO----SJB

    BINGO! There is the problem!!

First we are a "Representative Republic" and the two party system is destroying the process!

This country functioned better when men had a fear of the Almighty and there was four or more "Party's" trying to win the White House.

Two party's have only accomplished one thing, "divide and conquer" and a house divided can not stand!

The problem is the Left has moved too far left and the Right has moved too far right.

As a result of the popularity of all the cable "entertainment style" talking heads (Rush L, Rachel M, Glen B, O'Rielly, and so on) everyone has dug their heels in and no one wants to give an inch.

As a Democrat, my view is that the Tea Party movement has not done the Republicans any favors.

tomc66, when do we start to worry about the number of people on food stamps? 48 million now, that is more than the entire population of the country of Argentina! When do we start to worry? 75M, 100M, 150M?
