Is replacing the hammer and top lever springs on a BT 99 a do it yourself job? Does knocking out the driftpin in the receiver allow access?

To replace the springs in a BT99 you will need to remove the trigger plate that is held in place by the cocking bar pin. That is the piece that is in the bottom of the opening when the barrels are off. Once the trigger plate is removed clean all and reassemble all the parts. I like to have the trigger plate in the vise you need to hold the rear of the spring and its guide pin and push the hammer back till held by the sear. It is helpful to have a third hand to push the hammer back as the spring is big and powerful. When this is done replace the trigger plate assembly and you are done. WEAR YOUR SAFTY GLASSES

Here is one thread about replacing the hammmer spring. There have been several. You have to be superman to replace the hammer spring without a tool.

The top lever spring is easy to replace. Pry it out with the blade of a screwdriver. Place a rag over it first or you will lose the insert in the end of the spring for sure.
