I'm replacing a firing pin on a 1951 Remington 870. The pin that holds the firing pin in seems a bit tough. Is this pin just wedged in and requires some hard whacks or am I missing something?

    Thanks, Blueraven

Put a couple drops of penetrating oil on it and let it sit for about an hour. It will take a few good whacks.

Thanks all, I guess it being in there for 58 years, it has earned the right to be stubborn:).

Anyway, after soaking it for a couple hours with WD40 and a couple a real hard whacks, the pin popped out.

I got the new pin and spring put in and the gun's ready to go for another 58 years.
