Good afternoon. I don't want to sound like a complete idiot but I have a question regarding barrels. Can I purchase a second barrel for a browning citori without having to buy a full combo setup?

So how is it that there are unsingle, over single, and o/u barrels for sale without receivers. Thanks

    People broke up existing guns.

Browning will not sell barrels for their break action guns.

Midwest gun works has some, but they are older model and I would assume they purchased a bunch on closeout from Browning when browning tweaked their lineup. They are also unfitted and in the white.

I am mainly curious as to if you can use one! Not actually purchasing from the manufacturer. I was told at one time that each barrel is custom fit to the reciever and cannot be used apart from the original set.

so then this is true that you cannot use a barrel from another identical gun?

For that type of gun you can buy a barrel but it will have to be fitted. That is because the fit of barrel and receiver is precise. It is not like a Remington 1100, where the fit in comparison is rather sloppy. HMB

The need for fitting will not be known till you have the barrel in your hands.

I had 3 Berettas and by luck there were some switchable combinations possible. The whole isue is the dimension from the hinge pin to the breech face. If your barrel mesures more in that respect than the receiver, even by only a couple thousandths, the gun will not close.

Most of the time it's easy for a gunsmith to fit.

    YMMV

My unsingle barrel fit on 2 other Citoris, about same age. Maybe just luck?
