Repartee 101: Learn When To Shut Up

    A lot of people on this forum need to learn a fundamental rule of communicating in a venue such as this. KNOW WHEN TO SHUT UP. Just because someone challenges something you have said does not mean that you must respond. If you have made your point, and your point is based in logic, fact, and is rational, it will stand on it's own merit. It doesn't need to be defended over and over and over. If your point was in fact correct, when you defend it over and over, what you are saying in effect is that you don't even believe your own opinion. If you have made your point, or if you have verbally sparred with someone and you believe that your point has prevailed, SHUT UP. All you do when you continue to defend a point well made is look foolish. By not responding you make the other fellow look foolish.
