Sorry to hear this. He and my dad were friends for a long time.

Any idea what happened and/or where we could find his obituary?

R.I.P. old friend. I remember when he moved to Reno I lived in Carson City and he worked a Sears. Longtime ago.

Handlepuller...as far as I know, he had a major heart attack. I do not know much more than that. I looked today at rgj.com and there is no obituary. I will post it here if I can find one.

I am very sad, with Jim's passing. We spent many a good time shooting while Jim was in minnesota, and then, in Reno at the old Harolds club. Rest in Peace my friend will miss the stories and good times we had. Your friend Roger Lorenzen.

Jim will be missed by a lot of people. He was a great guy and one hell of a shot. He always had a warm smile and handshake everytime I saw him whether at Sage Hill, Carson or just socially. My sincerest condolences to Alice and his family.

My dad always called Jim Drengson "Sled" but, it's hell getting old, he can't remember why.

    Anyone know that story?

The obituary, which was more just like a death notice, appeared in the Reno Gazette Journal yesterday. You can go to rgj.com and see it. I have not heard anything about services. If I do hear something, I will post it here.

I just got an e-mail from Sage Hill saying that there would be a memorial shoot on Nov. 3 If you can make, please come out!

I apologize for being so slow to respond to all of your questions and thank you for your comments and good wishes. Reading this thread has helped me smile. . Per Jim's expressed wishes his body was cremated and his ashes were scattered on the Smoke Creek Desert about 100 miles north of Reno in a private ceremony. No review. No service. No fanfare. No obituary in the Reno paper.

This discussion thread and some Reno shooters let me know that this was not OK with them. Jim's obituary will be in the December Trap & Field Magazine. Sage Hill Clay Sports gun club will hold Jim Drengson Day on 11/3/2012. We will have dinner after 300 birds and will remember "Jim" or "Sled", shooter, friend, husband. father, and grandfather.

I am grateful for all your posts. Thank you. Alice Drengson

I'm so glad to hear that Mrs. Drengson. My dad sure thought highly of "old Sled."

Have fun with your friends while they're here boys!
