Jerry, can you show us a couple of pictures of the pitting? Usually pitting requires draw filing, but id it isn't too bad you might be able to handle it with emery cloth.

SXS shotguns were the most difficult for me to polish correctly. Much of it required a lot of paper and hand sanding. A good, flat medium coarse stone also helped. Many SXS guns cannot be safely hot blued.

Jerry, you might be in for a big job if you want to do it yourself. You could just bead blast the barrels to a medium finish and blue them. Will not give a shiny job but the pits may not be too obvious.

How do you think it would work to bead blast it and then reblue it?

It will come out a matt finish and the bead blasting should erase the light pitting.

Try a fine wire wheel on a bench grinder, go slow, with light pressure, don't let the barrels get too hot. Polish with some #2 steel wool, then use a piece of 00 steel wool to apply the cold blue, put on 4 to 5 applications. I like Brownell's DICROPAN T-4® or OXPHO-BLUE®. Polish with #2 steel wool again. Produces a satin to glossy finish depending on how much you polish with the steel wool, before and after the bluing. Wear rubber gloves the bluing can wreck your skin
