Removing Remington Factor Finish

    What method of removing Remington Factory Finish is best? Chemical, Sanding? Help, sugestions,products, methods, ideas. Thanks Charlie Pribble

    That is if it is not the finish they were using in the 70's, I believe it was called kreyton, and it was like the stuff they put on bowling pins. You will probably need a chisel and large hammer. Good luck if it is that stuff,other than that strip it and sanding works well.

    its a pain to strip very hard finish any kind of stripper will work and lite sanding and use lite brass brush for checkering have fun if you are going to refinish it yourself I have done two already and make sure when your done you use good wood cleaner before refinishing

    check for "Aircraft Finish Remover" at autobody supply stores.....it will strip anything inclluding epoxies....

    Better yet ... go to your local furniture refinisher and have them strip it!

    That is part of their business ... you will get it back ready to apply whatever finish that you desire ... WITHOUT the big mess and effort.
