I took the top part of glow type front sight off a 391 barrel very easily with a little heat from a soldering iron. Now I am confronted with the remains of the double sided tape solidly attached to the rib. How to remove that pesky strip with out messing up the rib? I was thinking acetone? Anybody been there, done that? Thanks, gyrine

Use lighter fluid or WD-40. Goo Gone is basically lighter fluid with a nice aroma.

The fact that the top of the rib is not smooth complicates the job. Rich

I trimed mine off with fishing line and what was left came off with my thumb.
