Bought a pristine 1911A1 Colt 45ACP, military issue in 1942. Got it from the grandson of the original owner. Grandson never shot it and grandpa only qualified with it in WW II (he never went overseas). As a Christmas "present" some years ago grandson's wife took the gun and had it BLUED!

Can this be undone and return the gun to an (almost) original condition? Actually, can it be reversed and returned to original condition????

Recommendations who to contact would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Certainly can but it will never be worth what it would have been had it never been altered. I have a 1918 manufacture which my grandfather brought back from WWII. He did the exact same thing and had it restored before gifting it to me. I wish he hadn't have restored it but I know he meant well.
