My favorite factory shell for singles is STS 1oz #81/2 @ 1185. How far back are the STS light handicap loads effective-11/8 of # 8 or 71/2 @ 1200 fps. Don't like to get pounded with heavier loads if I don't need them.

Try it and see. There will be lots of opinions. I like lighter loads too. I can "keep into the gun" better I think.

Ross is correct. It happened in 2002. Dennis DeVaux from VT ran the program 100 and 50 more to win the shoot off. His caps load of choice is Fed. papers 2 3/4 dram 1 1/8 oz. 7 1/2's

    Phil,

I really like the 3 dram green STS 7.5 for caps. I feel the Rem kicks less than the AA 3dram shell. Interestingly, I feel less recoil from the AA 2.75dram than I do the 2.75 STS shells, both in 1 oz and 1.125 oz shot charges. I have shot 1 green, 1 red alernating of each load to come up with the perception. Try it for yourself, I would like to hear your results.

I can tell no difference in subjective quality of breaks or smoke between Rems and AAs.

I have always found that a standard 3 dram (1200fps) shell to be more than adequate for breaking targets at longer 'caps distances.

If that Infinity patterns as well as you say it does, those targets should just be little hanging puffballs.

I shoot 1145fps STS Light Target from the 27. If I fail to break a target, it's not the shell's fault.

    Sandy,

I'm down to just a few cases of Nitro 8's in both 1 1/8 and 1 oz.

    If only you wanted/needed Gun Clubs. I'm running a special on GC light 8's ( 1 1/8 oz @ 1145)..... $51.90/case for 10 or more. Less than 10 is $53.00/case.

    Think spring.
