I am told black powder shooters like the slowness, they say the colder primer results in a better combustion. I gave what I had to a friend for that purpose.

Can't say myself. I just have a percussion model.

I loaded lots of these in 410 shells, but found that sometimes they are too weak for even that. Had lots of weak reports and off sounding shells when the weather got cooler or damper, or both or when were using loads just a little hotter than the usual 1200 fps loading they were meant for. I doubt that you have much success with them in otehr gauges. If I was going to to try it I might try something like a Longshot load in the 28 or 20, where the charge is very dense and small. Good luck, be careful.......pretty much uncharted waters you looking at.
