May I ask if a stock for an 870 can be installed on an 1100? If so, would it require any modification? Thanks in advance for your help. JM

YES, an 870 stock can be used on an 1100. Have done it many times to create a trap gun for a junior shooter. The birch Monte Carlo stocks for the 870 are shorter than an 1100 factory stock and do not cost that much. The newer 870 stocks use a longer stock bolt and the center hole is large enough to go onto the 1100. On the older 870 stocks that use the shorter stock bolt use a piece of 1/2" PVC to make a spacer just do not over tighten the stock nut. Grip caps are different. But in my opinion if that is what you have use it.

I guess you could backyard-engineer anything to work.

I will reform my answer then to state they are not readily interchangeable. The hole of the 870 stock has to be large enough to go over the action spring tube. Does it not?

Yes it does. And almost all of them are since the nut on the back of the 870 receiver is almost the same diameter as the action tube on the 1100.

Well then I stand corrected. I will still however stand by my statement that they are not "Readily" interchangeable. There seems to be variables in order for it to work. Thanks for the education on the subject.
