Could someone give a few short pointers on the differances between the Remington 1100 Competition and the newly introduced Remington 1100 synthetic stcok? Obviously the appearence is different, but internally or barrels, chokes etc. Thanks........bkt

Here's a good link about the history of the various 1100s. It isn't perfect, but it has helped me.

The stock is the only difference, wood or plastic all else is the same.

Both have the same over bored target load optimized twin bead barrel. I have one and it cycles 1150 fps 1 ounce loads flawlessly.

Yes, the barrels and choke system are different. The Pro-Bore barrel is .735 bore and takes Pro-Bore chokes, not Rem-Chokes. The gas ports in the barrel are sized to work with target loads. The internals of the gun are also coated with a Teflon nickel coating. The synthetic version has a Jack West style stock with a Speedbump Stockworks Auto- Buster recoil reduction system.
