Can anybody tell me if a Remington 742 stock will work on a 12ga Remington 1100?

    Thanks

No! A 742 is a Rifle Stock. I have 2-742's-1 in 270 Cal. and the other in 30-06. They both shoot like a dream. I have 2-1100's and 2-870's All 4 are 12 gages. Rich. (inPeoria, Az.)

It is not going to fit right on a 1100 12 ga frame. I tried one on a 12 ga 100 once and it would work in a pinch, but did not fit up exactly right. You could do a little work and make one fit better if you had to. I have been told the 742-760 receivers would take wood that fits the 20 ga LT or 28 ga 1100/870. I never wanted to take the time to try a 742 stock on my 28 ga.

The 742/760 stock will fit on the "Small Frame" 1100's. I replaced the stock on my 28ga."Sporting",which was way too low for clays shooting, with a 742 monte carlo/cheekpiece stock. The only problem was with length of pull which as with most rifle stocks, was a little short. Had the factory butt plate replaced with a 1" Kick-Eze pad and a 1/4" spacer and it now works great. Have the same setup on a .410 1100, but without the cheekpiece, it works so much
better than the factory field stock.
