I'm kinda looking for an answer to this question too because I have a nice Remington trap montecarlo butstock and matching forend to sell. mine has no metal insert in the forend, and is cut checkering.

The reason I ask is, I just purchased a like new 1187 trap model with monte carlo stock. I want to find a stock that has been shortened or an inexspensive stock that I can get shortened. The stock that is on the gun has no scratches or anything, I really do not want to cut it. The gun is for my son, that is the reason I need a short stock.

A wenig youth/ladies new american trap stock is a good choice also. The closer grip to trigger length will help whith smaller hands. wenig.com

Years ago I did the conversion. As memory serves me, the 1100-1187 stock will fit on the 870 with the addition of a longer bolt. The 870 will not go onto the autos do to the recoil spring. Get this, you can put either on a Ljutic. I have seen it done. Same thing, longer bolt

    Rookie Tim,

I have what you need. Just took this stock off of my son's 1187 now that he is bigger. It is TB grade wood, has cut checkering and gloss finish. $35.00 and I will pay the shipping. Can have pictures for you later today. Just e-mail me. Save your good stock for when your son gets bigger.

PS: I bought this sight unseen and could believe how nice it is. You won't be disapponted.
