Looks like a tool to me. I don't know anything about a 682 though.

looks like a release hook, there are several other parts that go with it to make it work....a pin in the hammer for the hook to hold on to, also a pin sticking out of the back side of the trigger to lift the hook to so it will engage the pin in the hammer, and longer pins to go through the receiver to hold the hook on, it fits outside of the receiver.

the picture is a little blurry, but on yours it looks like the shoulder screw takes the place of the longer pins to hold it to the receiver.

if I were you I would just hang onto it, in the future you may want to go with a release trigger......the hook by itself is not really worth much, because of the other things needed to make it work.

I agree with Kenenet1 it is not worth much as it is only the release hook, it is fitted to your gun and a lot more valuable to you, in case you want to go to a release, or sell the gun w/release-pull option.

A complete release installed for one bbl is about $350 on up.

Since it must be fitted w/other parts to make it work it is almost worthless.
