I'm sure if this is the same Winchester ammo mentioned by KellyPLK above, but Walart carries a 12 ga Target Load that claims 50% less recoil.

Thank you to all. My son is looking at the rem spr in the trap grade for a starter. We do not reload at the moment but may in the future. This gun is cheap and the ones I have seen look good for the price. I will check out the walmart shells. Your replys are greatly appreciated. Mark

I load 3/4 oz. of #8 1/2 shot in a remington STS hull, 16.4 gr of clays powder a Federal 12SO wad with win. 209 primer. Smokes targets from the 16 with very little recoil. Mike Pracht.

You can reload using the new Winchester AA Lite powder. It's probably the powder used in the factory Winchester reduced recoil loads.

    Remington RLSTS1285 manged recoil 12GA 7/8oz 8.5shot 1100fps

Winchester 2 types AA12FL 980fps, Whiteline WL12FL8 980fps. I used all three for introduction to shooting for my wife. Winchesters where hard to come buy. STS manged recoil a bit easier around here. Had to special order last time. Wife really no longer needs them.

Reloads as follows 1oz shot, Winchester Waalite powder @ 12grains, Rem209 primer, WAA12sl wads 970fps per hodgdon reload data

    1oz shot, hodgdon clays powder @ 16grains, rem209 primer, TGT12 wads, 1125fps

Both loaded in STS shells. I have really come to like the second load. Hodgdon has a lot of good listings for for such a load. Several options also. Website above. I also found these shells to run more per box. Last I saw 6.25

Hoosier Daddy - "I shoot 1 ounce loads with claybuster wads and 17 grains of Promo. Very soft and around 1120fps."

I've been loading that with ~16.5 of Promo, and was wondering what velocity I was getting. Where did you come up with that 1120 fps numbers for your load?
