The tribal council voted to close the facility. Jennifer was notified this morning when she arrived for work. As of now, it is closed with no further word of the future.

Nice of them to give fair warning.

Must not have been making casino style profits.

The rumor is indeed true. Red Mountain is closed. When my staff and I arrived at work, we were told that the Tribal Council has made the decision to close the facility permanently. There was no warning or mention prior to today. This has been extremely hard for me and my family. We poured our hearts and souls into that club. My girls were raised out there, we met many many friends through the 14 years I was employed there. No one is more shocked and upset over this than I. I received many phone calls today on my cell phone - if you called, and I didn't respond, please don't take offense, and please understand that I am having a rough day! When I have more information, I will pass it along. Thanks, Jennifer Mennetti

Dear Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear that. You and your staff were both extremely competent and user friendly. It certainly is going to create a huge void for wintering shotgunners in the valley especially those of us in the eastern area. My very best wishes for you and your family going forward. Bob

Jennifer, thanks for responding so quickly. Craig and I spent many many seasons at Red Mountain before he passed away in 2005. We always were treated so well and you and your family were and still are dear to me. The best of luck to you in the future. I will miss Red Mountain and all the people we met and grew to love there. If ever a gun club was run properly, it was under your leadership at Red Mountain. God bless you and your family.

Contact these people. They may help restore the facility.

This is terrible news. I've been to Arizona twice and really enjoyed shooting at Red Mountain. This puts a kink into my future plans. Red Mountain was an excellent facility and very well run. Good luck to you Jennifer and the rest of the employees. Bill Malcolm

There are a lot of unanswered questions that need to be addressed and there are people who are attempting to find out all of the particulars and reasons why the club was closed ... The Tribal Council does not owe anyone any explainations and they know it, but if this is handled right and the Council is approached properly they may or may not tell the reasoning behind this ... Jennifer would know more than anyone else because she has been there over the years, even before she became the Manager in charge of the operation of the club ... This is not a good thing for trapshooting in the State of Arizona and will probably have an impact on all of the other shoots in the State if the Tribe is steadfast with their decision to close the club and keep it closed ... I think we all hope this is not permanent and can be worked out to everyones satisfaction ... I guess we will all see sooner or later ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Below, inserted at the request of a friend.

"I can read the stuff on the TS Web Page but for some reason I
can't put anything on it.Could you do me a favor and inquire as to
whether or not anyone was able to rescue "AMMO" the cat? He is an old
black stray cat that has been a mascot of sorts for a number of years."

His additional comment - - "Not as bad as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick but almost.I feel sorry for Jennifer the manager and the Indians who worked there. I have a card to put in the receptacle to activate the autotraps. I guess the Wahoos who own the place will keep my $90.00."

Hopefully, they will refund your money. It's only fair.

Ammo the "cat" will be taken care of. Talked to Jennifer and Jim Rasmussen will come to the rescue.

I'm sure the $90.00 on the shoot card will be refunded.

I have 2 families in mind for Ammo - I would take him, but I have 4 cats already 2 of which were "rescue" cats themselves. If Jim can't take him, and I know he would love to, I have an alternate plan. Please don't worry about Ammo - I will be sure he gets a good home.
Thanks for all your kind comments - Janet - we have sure missed you the last few years! I sure miss seeing Craig's smiling face!
As for refunds.... Please don't start too many rumors. I will get you information as soon as I can. I was told that we will refund RV Deposits and monies for tokens and shoot cards (including those "blue" cards mentioned above) It's just too soon for definate answers to how and when. I promise - I will give you information as soon as I have it!

Own the land, like in Vandalia?

Ahem, hate to rain on everyone's parade but the ATA in fact DIDN'T own the land at Vandalia -- that's why they had to move. It's also why they couldn't SELL it (reason being they didn't OWN it) and BUY another BIG piece of land.

Yea, Sparta is not exactly the cat's ass, but seeing as how the ATA didn't have to put any money into it (besides the machines they already had), it's not all that bad.
