When loading a 1200 FPS 1 1/8 shell, which would be more appropriate the RED or GREEN DOT since they have different burn rates? and why.
    Thanks COFFEE

both? It takes less red dot therefore it would be cheaper to load.

As long as you read a current guide and follow it, either is fine and you might pick one or the other based on crimp, since the Green Dot needs a bigger bushing and so might bring the interior volume-usage up to "just right" - or "just a bit too much.

A single test of mine said that Green Dot patterns a bit tighter, putting ten or twenty more pellets in the 30-inch pattern. If I were shooting long-range handicap with these shells, I'd use Green Dot.

Either, as long as the pressures stay below around 10,000 PSI. I prefer Green Dot for the 1 1/8 oz over 1150 or so. I'll use something else when it gets close to 1250 or higher.

My experience is definitely green dot. We play a game called SCRAP and I've shot my best scores with green dot. I will average two more hits per round over red dot. I've tried promo but will go back to green dot when this cannister is done. Jackie B.

Since its 1 1/8 and 1200 fps I'd use GD myself. If it was 1145 I'd be tempted to use RD.

Make sure you follow the recipe in the Alliant loading manual.
Been using for years and love them both

with rem wads primers and hulls, alliant shows @1200 fps 18g RD vs 19g GD BUT 2000psi difference!! lower for GD. If my clays powder runs out I may try GD
