Recoil pad mounting system

    Looking to see what folks have done as far as installing a gun nut type system to ease change of recoil pads. I know Midway & Brownells sells a "Gun Nut" system, but it looks like just two threaded inserts. I picked up some 8-32" brass inserts at my local hardware store (see link below) and they keep backing out when I remove the pad. Is the Gun Nut system any better?

    I use 10-24 brass inserts and never have a problem. Be careful not to over drill the holes. If they're backing out, remove them and try a drop of epoxy in the hole before re inserting them. If any epoxy gets in the threads, it may be necessary to chase the threads, after they dry.
