    Good suggestion.

To dangerous a powder to get loading information off a talk board.

Almost blew apart an 1100 one day and I was using one of the posted Hodgdon fast loads.

The spent hull flew past the shell catcher and traveled three pads over.

I gave the remaining powder away to another shooter.

Anything more than 1 1/8 oz of shot and faster than 1350fps is a waste of time and money. I game shoot 3 to 4 nights a week and I can break 'em 80+ yards away with no problems. The only thing big payload shells are good for is flinching. Just learn the leads and all is fine.

Ratfink, I buffer a Longshot load all the time. Federal Top Gun or Estate hull, 27.0 gr. Longshot, DR Versalite wad, 1 3/8 buffered 4's or 5's. Don't use flour for buffer in this load. It raises the pressure too much. Lyman's 3rd Edition loading manual has good info on buffering in the text. The only thing I've blown-up is the egos of people who thought they could compete with 1 1/8 of 6's.

SirMissAlot, that excruciating noise is powder burning half way to the trap house. Thirty-three gr. pushing 1 1/8 oz. is just a noise maker. Reduce the powder and put some weight in front of it and it's no more noisy than any other load.

If you happen to be the first fella in the line to use a Longshot load, you end up with pleanty of elbow room when the crowd moves away. 1 1/4 oz load of 6's will reach as far as you'll ever need to break any target if your on the bird. Break 'em all! Load by the book!
