Sorry, I coined the phrase "going Zimbabwe" here years ago to describe what would eventually become now. I didn't know then that when the congress-wankers got tired of doing their job (writing & justifying a budget) they would just skip it and put it on a tab. No one even noticed as many were re-elected to screw America harder.

"I think it's just a big facade to get us all to pay more tax."

Well, Shannon391, you're correct! What alternative to paying for stuff do you reccomend? Two more years without a budget to reconcile what these scofflaws collect/expend? 5 wars, bailed out bankers, graft & fiscal irrisponsibility have a downside...COST. You are now a grape.

It is tragic to watch Boner Reid Pelooser O'Faker ad nauseum- posture for the cameras and try to lie their way out of what they have done. If they had asked us grapes to pay for what they were doing in 'real time', the grapes would have had to pay and MAYBE, MAYBE... wake up & VOTE!! their lame asses out of office. Fighting over 'Bush tax cuts' is like harvesting nutrients from cotton candy.

Too effin late now.... epic FAIL!

And by-the-way, 1 Trillion Obamacare Tax Hike Hitting On January 1, regardless of the outcome of fiscal cliff negotiations, Americans will be hit with a $1 trillion Obamacare tax hike.

Obamacare contains twenty new or higher taxes. Five of the taxes hit for the first time on January 1. In total, Americans face a net $1 trillion tax hike for the years 2013-2022, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Ron Paul On The Fiscal Cliff: "We Have Passed The Point Of No Return" (Zero Hedge)
    By: UKSecrets
    Tags: ECONOMY
In a little under three minutes, Ron Paul explains to a somewhat nonplussed CNBC anchor just how ridiculous the charade that is occurring in D.C. actually is. This succinct spin-free clip should be required viewing for each and every asset-manager, talking-head, propagandist, and mom-and-pop who are viewing the last-minute idiocy of the 'fiscal cliff' debacle with some hope that things will be different this time. "We have passed the point of no return where we can actually get our house back in order," Paul begins, adding that "they pretend they are fighting up there, but they really aren't. They are arguing over power, spin, who looks good, who looks bad; all trying to preserve the system where they can spend what they want, take care of their friends and print money when they need it." With social safety nets available to rich and poor, there is no impetus for change and "the country loses," but Paul concludes, the markets are starting to say "there is a limit to this."

The biggest problem is the House sends fiscal legislation to the Senate and Harry Reid puts it in a pile on his desk right under his book of cowboy poetry, never to see the light of day again. Either he thinks he runs the country, or Obama tells him what to do with it.

Grunt is absolutely correct. The Senate Majority Leader can stymy the will of both houses AND the President by simply refusing to bring a bill to a vote of the Senate. This is almost as, much power as George III had and you know what that brought on - The American Revolution! Harry Reid is NOT the king and he needs to stop acting as if he were. The country needs either new parliamentary proceedures or another revolution.

This is nothing but a horse and pony show to keep your eyes off of the real financial cliff and enable the government to kick the can down the road a few more months. There is no way to balance the budget! The deficit is too big to pay off with taxes or reduced spending in our lifetime. The only recourse I see is to default. Iceland did and they are doing just fine. They also jailed all the bankers that were responsible. Guys this debt is all just x's and o's on a computer created out of thin air.

Bigdog are you referring to the 40 billion a month of purchasing mortgage backed securities and the 40 billion a month of purchasing U.S Treasuries by the Federal Reserve?
