1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For more detailed information please see this post: Thread Bump Functionality.

This is a great looking gun. It just does not look like a Browning finish on the wood. Trevor Dawe

According to book Superposed / Ned Schwing the 1968 model was the first year of the skeet model that featured a flat bottomed pistol grip.

That is a 1970 model. You need to take stock and forearm off as well as look at the recoil pad screws. and carefully look for some corrosion evidence.

Art performed a lot of restoration work after the crap hit the fan on Salt wood. If, for example he did the work, the end result is 'new gun/good wood' and it will raise the price of the Superposed in that price range. THERE WERE A LOT of CLEAN 68-70 guns and yours probably is one of them

I sold a 1965 in 99-100% two months ago with 28" bbls, nice wood, briley chokes for $3200 and a 1969 99-100% original-no rework 28" IC/M for $2400 - every bit as nice as the 1965 - but it was in the 'bad range' which spooks the guys knowledgable about Brownings. Additionally, 26 1/2 barrels always bring a lower price, condition same otherwise..

You should consider keeping the price at $2200 range if you can afford to hang on to it, but you need to remove stock and forearm and take picks of the action and forend to demonstrate 'clean'. If rust/corrosion evident, you will be down in $1300-1800 range despite the excellent appearance.

Take what you want and leave the rest.

I've been trying my damnedest to find these screw you're talking about and the entire butt pad is solid rubber. Here is a picture.

Salt wood really kills value...drgondog indicated salt guns may sell in the $1300 to $1800 range which I think is optimistic. I has an as new in the box - fired no more than 50 shots - Browning Lightning 28" IC & Mod with salt wood. Bought it for $1850 thinking it was not salt wood; found it it was salt wood and felt lucky to get $950 for it. Not fun. Regards, Ed

PS If the gun is a long tang model, the chances are good it is NOT a salt gun; most salt guns were short tang models. But to remove the pad screws, look for them by spreading the recoil pad laterally about 1/2" above & below the Browning logo in the center of the pad. You will find little slits with the screws inside...usually Phillips head screws.

    Creature,

The recoil pad on your Superposed appears to be original and undisturbed. PLEASE do not grab a screw driver and go rummaging around in the butt stock. I'd bet your gun is all original and there is no reason to bugger it up. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL GUN. Leave it alone and sell it to someone who recognizes it for what it is. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the kind words WS-1. I'm not going to root around with a screw driver just yet.

Bump to the top with price drop. $1800 shipped ground(buyer pays insurance if they want it).

Creature - the Very specific reason to take the pad off is to take the stock off and show pictures of the action.

Salt Wood Year raises suspicions and some will not look any further. Your Superposed, absent Salt Wood and demonstration of no pitting will elevate it above the corroded salt wood action.

What makes your gun tougher to sell are a.) 26"" bbls, b.) sk/sk with beavertail forend, then, c.) Salt Wood year.

Most folks are shooting 20 ga skeet with 12 ga tube sets and long barrels.

    Regards,

    Bill
