Alright so I'm pretty sure that I should get my BT-99 re-blued. It's getting worn and has a bit of rusting. However I don't want the straight bluing. I think it might be something called "Antique Blueing," but I really don't know. It's just like seemingly multi-color finish in different light. Does anybody know what that's called, where I can get it done, and ballpark cost. Thanks a lot!

Try one of these guys. Even though some of them don't care one way or another about guns or our 2nd Amendment rights, they might be able to help you.

Trappy when you say multi colored are you referring to case hardening as you see on some older receivers or expensive newer ones?

Regardless go to this web site and they have all kinds of option to refinish as well as the prices. They have an excellent and well deserved reputation.

    Trapie,

I think you should give AJ 100's suggestions serious consideration. You need to be simpatico with those to whom you're giving your hard earned money.

Good luck and be sure and post before and after photos. I know I'll be interested in seeing your trap gun.

Jerry, I think that is what I am referring to. I know that it is on Browning's custom side by side shotgun, don't know the name.

Alright, well I found out that what I am looking for is Cyanide, or Bone Case Coloring. Apparently a lot more expensive. Does anybody know ball park price for this?

Doug Turnbull is the person for case hardening. His website is: http://www.turnbullrestoration.com

Looks like about $275 for a receiver.

    Trappy 12,

The link above shows several types of bluing. He has his prices listed as well.

I believe it is not "casehardening", but "casecoloring"...and then I may be wrong, but the term is not "casehardening"...

Trappy Google Classic Guns Inc. Ken Hurst uses them and he is the Master. Look for about the $200.00 price range. We would like to see befor and after pictures of your BT 99. Jim
