Rain Wrecks Trap Shooting Event At Waukesha Gun Club

    WISN.com

    Competition Expected To Resume Friday

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The rain knocked a trap shooting competition off target on Thursday at the Waukesha Gun Club.

Water is surrounding trap houses, buildings and trailers. Wednesday night's storms also blew over several tents set up for the event.

Nearly 1,000 competitive shooters were registered to participate this year.

All of Thursday's contests were canceled.

Organizers said they hope to get the competition back online Friday.

"It all depends on the weather, and if we can get everything dried out and get the traps working, and then we'll have the regular, we'll continue on with the shoot," said Arlene Otto, the secretary and treasurer of the Wisconsin Trap Shooting Association.

Competitive shooters from as far away as South Carolina are in Wisconsin to participate in this event.
