“Pull for Agriculture Education” set to raise funds for Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom

Hundreds of shooters from the Midwest will join together for a great cause - increasing ag literacy through the Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom program. On July 17, 2010 the Randolph and Perry County Farm Bureaus hosts the fourth annual “Pull for Agriculture Education”, a classic sporting clays and trap shooting fundraising event. Held at the world-class, state of the art, 1,600-acre World Shooting and Recreational Complex near Sparta, IL in Randolph County, this day of fun and competition is open to all.

“Shooters participating in the ‘Pull for Agriculture Education’ will enjoy a weekend of competition and camaraderie including trap shooting, sporting clays, games, team events, and much more,” said Perry CFB President and event co-chair Alan Jenkel.

Among the features at this year's Pull for Agriculture Education:

? Buy A Farm.com Youth Shoot Out - any youth sporting clays shooter hitting 85 to 100 targets on the main course, and any youth trap shooter hitting 90 to 100 targets on the main course will be eligible to compete in the Buy A Farm.com Youth Shootout. Both the Sporting Clays and Trap Shoot Shootout winners will receive $350 and the second place winners will receive $150.
? Gateway & Southern FS $500 Shootout – any sporting clays shooter hitting 90 to 100 targets on the main course, and any trap shooter hitting 95 to 100 targets on the main course will be eligible to compete in the Gateway & Southern FS Shootout. Both the Sporting Clays and Trap Shoot Shootout winners will receive $500.
? Over $4,000 in prizes awarded
? Free registration for 18 and under Junior shooters provided by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources
? Great competitions, games, and extras

“The Randolph & Perry County Farm Bureaus and Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom programs believe that agriculture’s future will depend on a well educated society,” says Jack McCormick, President of the Randolph CFB. “This means children and adults will need to understand and appreciate agriculture’s importance to our daily lives. We must invest now in our children’s education because they will become our industry’s policy makers, employees, leaders and consumers. It is our responsibility to help them understand and recognize how agriculture impacts them every day, and the IAITC program is uniquely positioned to meet this challenge.”

Event pricing, details, and registration are available online at www.rcfb.org or by calling me Ryan Ford at(618) 443-4511.
