I got a 8 Lb keg of Promo , I'm using AA hulls , Winchester 209 primers , and Clay buster 1118 wads for 1 1/8 oz of 7.5 I'm looking for 1150-1200 fps anyone know what grain count I need ? I'm new to loading and don't want to waste or make a mistake that could ruin my day :)

Use Alliant Red Dot data, and use a scale

Alliant has data for Promo in their "catalog" at the above link. It's located on page 30. They list 17 grains at 1145 fps and 18 grains at 1200 with the WAA12 wad, Winchester 209 primer, and Winchester AA hull. The Claybuster CB1118-12 wad is similar and should give similar results. Like everyone else said, weigh your charges to be sure you are throwing the right amount of powder. Don't ever trust bushing charts or someone else's recommendation. Their press and powder may differ from yours. They say to start out a couple of bushing sizes smaller than what is listed for Red Dot in the bushing charts and go from there. Promo is a bit more dense than Red Dot, but is similar enough usually to use the same loading data. Promo will also vary from lot to lot, sometimes quite a bit. Always double check a new lot of powder.

18 grains of Promo should do it depending on your barrel
