Could someone please tell me when Model 12 Trap Guns were made? I thought it was 1914-1964 and Y model 12 from 1964-1980. Also, were some Japanese Model 12 guns made for Browning under special license? Thanks for your information. James Carpenter

James, My book says that 5308 mod 12s were made in 1912. I think the Y started in 1971. Larry Evans

The first M12s were received in the Winchester warehouse August 30th 1912 and made available to the public in January 1913. The 1st M12s were offered to the public in 20 ga. only. 1963 was the last year for field grade guns. With abundance of parts still available winchester continued to build to customer specifications as special orders. From Dave Riffle's book, The Greatest Hammerless Repeating Shotgun Ever Built.
