Are you worried about pressure or diameter?

I have interchanged Win 209 with Noble Sport. I did not notice any difference but I did the change at the advice of my supplier, CAC Associates. I do not have my load data in front of me, but as I recall the data for my powder was different for Win 209 and Fed 209a. Check your recipes and see what they say. You may have to change your bushing/powder charge to make the change.

Ok before we jump all over the gander mtn guy.....

WT12 wad is inter-changeable with the WAA12 wad.

Hodgdon list 1 1/8 oz, Int'l loads for Win AA hulls, WAA12 wads, Win 209 and Fed 209A primers. With the Fed 209A primers you should only load up to 17.5 grs of Int'l for 10,900 psi, 1,200 f/s. With Win 209 the fastest load is a 1255 f/s load using 21.3 grs of Int'l for 10,800 LUP.

So Hodgdon has tested and published loads using either Win 209 and Fed 209A primers and the WT12/WAA12 wads.

Definately going to have to adjust your powder drop. Shouldn't notice a difference in performance

Federal 209A primer is hotter than the Win 209 primer. They are not interchangeable. Check your reloading manual for correct compnents. HMB

No, they are NOT interchangeable, except for size. They will likely produce considerably different pressures and such a substitution is potentially dangerous. You should use data for the EXACT components you are using. Do not believe what a store clerk tells you, especially at Gander Mountain. Odds are they don't know what they are talking about. Swapping primers is a crap shoot and it's best to use the primers and other components listed in your data without substitutions. The Federal 209A primers are popular enough and there is a good amount of data for them. According to some reliable sources, there are only two pairs of primers that might be interchangeable and two of them are no longer made. Hodgdon no longer states that the Nobel Sport and Winchester W209 are interchangeable. Oversight or deliberate omission, it is no longer stated that they interchange. Older printed manuals had the statement, so be sure to check the latest versions of loading manuals.

Don't use Fio 616's when it's cold. I should say when their stored in a cold area like garage of workshop with no heating. They don't work very well.
