Anybody buying turkeys for their clubs turkey shoots? We're thinking about having one, just wondering what size turkeys you give away and what they are running per pound.

We just had our first of two turkey shoots for Nov. & Dec. The turkey average weight was 14.2 lbs at a cost of .88 cents per pound which is up from last years .74 cents per pound. All of our other meat prizes (bacon, J. D. sausage, summer sausage, jerky) were up at least $1.00 per item this year. We gave out 195 meat prizes this year, up from 152 in 2011 and 138 in 2010. We had good weather and very good crowd of shooters. We've held our shoot fees to $4.oo per event for several years and plan on continuing to do so. More attendance is worth the less profit. This sport will always need more shooters as the days go on!! This is the Albany Gun Club in Oregon, stop by sometime and I know you'll have a good time!! Tom Boyd
