This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

Anyone that knows me knows that I believe the Parker Reproductions to be the best value today in a quality side by side shotgun. That being said, I'm putting up for sale a great little 28 gauge two barrel set. This particular gun is lightly used and shows a few light marks from being carried and a little case color wear to the receiver. In short, this is the kind of gun I like to buy to shoot, not sit in the gun rack.

The particulars on this gun are two sets of 28 gauge barrels. One is 26 inches and is choked IC and Mod. The other set is 28 inches and is choked Mod and Full. Gun weighs 5 pounds 8 ounces with the 26 inch barrels and 5 pounds 10 ounces with the 28 inch barrels making it a joy to carry in the woods. Stock dimensions are 1 3/8 X 2 1/8 X 14 1/4 over the skeleton butt plate. This is a straight grip, single selective trigger, splinter forend gun. Nothing on the gun has been altered in any way and all number match and screws are in perfect condition. Bluing on the gun is 99%, case coloring is 75% showing some fading on the bottom of the receiver where carried, stock finish shows some light marks, with no marks through the finish. Checkering is all excellent. Gun comes with the original two barrel case, dust cover, case keys, and snap caps.

If you want a gun to actually take into the field this would be a great choice. Gun has been lightly used so you won't have to cry when you put the first mark on it! Price of the gun is $5500 plus $50 shipping to your FFL. As always there is a three day inspection period on this gun. Feel free to email me at esetter5@me.com with any questions you might have on this nice little upland side by side. You will enjoy this gun for many years to come.

    Esetter,

I have a couple of these guns in 28 ga. which I have never fired. One has never been put together! They are NOT for sale.

The complaint about this gun is that the case colors wear off quickly. This is because of the harder steel from which the action is made. The colors simply do not penetrate as deeply as they do on softer steel.

This being said, it is a simple thing to rectify. I had the actions coated with Gunloc (sic) varnish. It will prevent the colors from wearing off and will keep them bright through years of hard use.

Now there is no excuse for not having one of these beautiful guns!

    Birdogs (also English Setters)

ps An acquaintance bought a second barrell for his repro. It turns out it was made by Kreighoff.

I have two and shoot them all the time. I honestly think they are the best value in SXS guns today. You are correct about the Krieghoff barrels. Only Galazan makes barrels for them as well. The original 16GA barrels were made by Krieghoff. I actually like them when the case coloring wears off. The 28GA that I shoot and hunt with has almost all gone to silver and I still love it.

    Doggai,

The colors wear off even if you wear gloves.

I had a Parker Repro 28 gauge two barrel set that I got when they had just stopped production and were remaindering them out for $2500. Of course, I wish I'd kept it today, but when I had it the gun was nothing but grief. I had ejector and single trigger problems, but of which were fixed under guarantee. When I tested the barrels the 26" ones were fine, but the 28" barrels had the left barrel shooting a full pattern left at 30 yards compared to the right barrel. Since those barrels were the Mod/Full, there was enough choke to play with the re-regulate things back to the center.

But the biggest problem I had with the gun was that it was absurdly short for me and, due to the skeleton butt plate, impossible to lengthen. I sold it to a short guy and he seemed very happy.

    Good looking gun though.

I bought one for around 2 grand when someone (Reagent Chemical?)dumped a couple hundred on the market at once. Sent it to Briley for a set of 410 tubes and hunted preserve birds with the 410 setup and took it to Kansas once and used the 28 ga barrels on wild quail and stocked pheasants. Wish I had kept it. Barrels were regulated perfectly and it had great triggers.

You've got the right kind of dogs! Wish there were still quail around here. Haven't shot a wild quail in a very long time.

I had the 20 gauge version - great gun.

Traded it for a "real" Parker VH grade - wish I'd kept the repro...

Gene, I had a Llewellin once and it was a very sweet dog and beautiful but not a good bird dog. A good friend had a very good one.
