Hi I was wondering if there was a powder out there that would accommodate a ounce and an ounce and an eigth? I want the one ounce load close to 1250 or better and the 1 1/8th near 1200 or just a little faster?

Let's not forget good old Red Dot! 18.5 grains with the appropriate wad will do what you want very nicely!

in my experience (40yrs)& lots of experimenting Green Dot is good for 1&1/8,, was not the best in 1oz.. I had better luck with 700x-Red Dot-PB when trying to cover both weights with 1 powder, personal preference PB. Ross

Why limit yourself to one powder? I think the best part of reloding is having access to several combinataions of powders, wads, and primers. Most suppliers can get most components. You never know, you just might experiment long enough to find the magic load that produces 100's from your gun with 71/2's and 8's.

    700X.....

My recipes (I use Federal hulls, GM, Estates, Top Guns & Walmart MP's)

1oz: 17 grs. of 700X, 12S0 wad and 209A primer. (1200 fps) I use this for singles and both shots of doubles.

1-1/8 oz: 19.5 grs of 700X, 12S3 wad, 209A primer, (1250 fps) Long yardage 'caps.

What I like about Green Dot is for 1 oz. at 1250 or 1 1/8oz at 1200.. you are in the 8500/8800 psi range.. where Red Dot/Promo would be well into the 9000 plus range.. I would use Red Dot/Promo for 24 gram/1oz shells.. but once you hit the 1200 mark for 1 1/8oz.. I perfer Green Dot.. Either would do the job well.. but I like the additional safety margin of Green Dot..and the lower PSI is easier on parts as well... I believe less chance of metal fatigue.. (meaningful in a barrel).. Little by products are the ribs stay on longer..if that counts for anything.. and sideribs as well..

I have found at once you hit the 8500 psi mark.. powder tends to burn cleaner..and shoot more consistently..so you're OK.. with either..

    All Good.. Mike
