I believe PW sells a small plastic part that fits under the drop tube and fits into the hull. The powder drops into this "condom" and you can then weigh the charge.

You can get the little red "hootus" that fits in the shell die from PW if you want to spend the money. It is somewhat of a pain on the older machines to weigh powder or shot.I'm sure some of the more experienced PW users can tell you a neat trick to do what you want to do.I have the little red "hootus"and it works ok for me.

i use a 20 gauge shell i trimmed an inch or so off the end

    it fits perfect

ive heard of guys using cigar cases

i know 1 guy from our trap club that weights the shot and powder charge of ever shell he cuts up because of a bad crimp or some other problem to to double check his machines random production

The factory was going to discontinue them because all the new pressed have removable dies. I told them NOT to discontinue them because using them was a helluva lot quicker that to even remove a die for either the shot or powder.

They are cool, because they slide up on the die and you simply crank the handle, drop the shot or powder into the capture tube and when you move the handle back to home, you simply slide off the tube, pour contents into your scale, and after weighting it, you use the supplied funnel to pour contents back into the hull and go about your business. WHEW...... long sentence, sorry.

This is what they look like and I stock them.

The 20 gauge hull cost about 4 cents and works just fine
