White guy, baritone, in a tux, singing it like it was written, at a Chicago Blackhawks game - gave me chills. The rest of them - sappy country girls, and soulful renditions by blacks do nothing but piss me off - if they can't do it like it was written, just play a recording or don't do it all.

A few years ago, there was an NFL game played in London, possibly the first. A teenage American (Black) girl sang the National Anthem in the most beautiful manner and utmost respect; it brought tears to my eyes. The fact that the Star Spangled Banner was sung on British soil on network television and broadcasted worldwide just blew my mind! If anybody could find and post a video of that performance, I would be forever grateful.

This fellow always did a good job and he isn't an American he is Canadian. He sang the anthems at all Ottawa Senators home games. His Name is Lyndon Slewidge.

Unfortunately in the video he sings both US and Canada anthems as I couldn't find one with just the US anthem in it.

That Whitney Houston thing? Are you serious? Just watched it (well most of it anyway) Off key high notes - wailing, change of tempo.... painful to listen to, more painful to watch.

I agree with Impala Bob. Madison Rising. I was thinking that during the lame version during the Superbowl!
