I have heard some guys claim that the chokes that have the slits cut in them namely "Comp-N-Chokes" help to seperate the wad quicker. I don't have a clue if that is true.

Don't know but I would rather have the tubes ported than screw up a good bbl. another tube is cheaper than another bbl.,I'm obviously not a fan of porting, never owned a ported gun just don't like shooting next to them. Ross Puls

I have tried every imaginable choke made in various trap guns that I have owned and I will always go back to Kicks smoke chokes. They are ported and I cant tell if they help with recoil or not but I have had them in two different trap guns (K80 and Kolar T/A ) and they out perform them all as far as a pattern goes and that includes the titanium chokes the k80 comes with. They are not bad to clean, I just let them soak in wd40 over night and there done. I am sold on them to say the least.

Two things ported choke tubes do NOT do:

    1. Reduce recoil (OK, they do a little, but probably less than 2%)

    2. Reduce muzzle rise. They can't.

Some people swear by them. Comp-n-Choke and Kicks get mention a lot.

But if ported choke tubes perform well, its not "because of the ports."
