Gun owners divided, but not those on the ANTI-GUN side.

    --------------------------------

Ban all assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and institute comprehensive gun control

Thirty-four Americans are killed every day by firearms. The total killed in just 6-months is equal to all American combat deaths over the entire length of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

After the tragic murder of 20 children and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School, we call on Congress to immediately ban all assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and institute comprehensive gun control.

    Please sign our Petition.

Given all those laws already exist in Europe, why are all the leftists still here in the wild west? With but a plane ticket they could be whisked away to the warm embrace of cradle to grave government control of every facet of their lives, which is, after all, what they really want.

RE: Joe, seriously, who on this site is going to sign something like this?

It's not who is going too sign it from those who visit this site, but to show those on this site how united the anti-gun crowd is.

Reading postings just on this site find shooters taking all kinds of positions, to include more then a few who do wish to ban assault weapons and 30 round magazines.

I'm already seeing articles where the news organizations are looking for and interviewing gun owners who agree to ban certain weapons. Can't even tell you how many anti-gun articles I posted on my website in the last week, but an all time high!

Several posters on this site want nothing to do with the NRA, as long as they can keep there shotgun and bolt action hunting rifle.

We better get are ducks in order....

    Joe,

The way you wrote the post makes you look like you want to ban guns. If that isn't your direction, you may want to correct your writing.

Joe didn't write it, which was obvious. What he did was cut and paste some liberal tripe. Not surprising that musketball couldn't figure it out.

What exactly is an assault weapon? Looks to me that rifles are the lowest percentage of all weapons used? These are 2009 stats from the FBI:

    Murders total – 13636

    Murders with handguns – 6452 (47.32%)

    Murders with rifles – 348 (2.55%)

    Murders with shotguns – 418 (3.07%)

    Murders with unknown firearms – 1928 (14.14%)

Murder with knives or cutting instruments – 1825 (13.38%)

    Murders with other weapons – 1864 (13.67%)

Murders with hands, fists, feet etc.. – 801 (5.87%)

Rick, the FBI does not consider those murders. But since you ask...

It is 3200 babies a day in the U.S. by licensed Obstetricians.

Incremental gun bans are coming.....the "evil" looking "black guns" are just the pretext....THINK PEOPLE! Once they get their "foot in the door" the next step is all handguns....

Does anyone with a modicum of intelligence think they will stop with "assault rifles?" What do you think will happen to semiauto handguns? Glocks? Sigs? XD? 1911s?

If you do not join the NRA and launch a logical counter attack, these urban, metrosexuals, British import talking heads, etc. will impose their "urban value system" on the rest of us.

Reason is not driving their agenda. They are using the quintessential "tragic/emotional moment" to impose their urban anti-gun agenda. The fact is, most mass murders were conducted by mentally ill people who broke gun laws. These same liberal hypocrites are the first to celebrate movie releases with obscene violence....Do you think they will boycott DJANGO?

Speak up....do not allow emotional manipulation to rule!

And you think that "speaking to the choir" will have some impact? Listen. The anti gun crowd is not unified. They do not even know what guns are. Some think hunting guns are OK, some want confiscation and others want eveything in-between. They are just singing in a protest march.

Beat your drums. Beat your gums. but don't beat yourself.

Exactly. Incrementalism. The biggest goal of the anti's has been to get rid of handguns. Far more handguns have been used in shoot shootings than so-called assault weapons. Likely handguns will be the next gun on their list. I remember when the anti's tried to limit semi-auto handguns to five shots, but compromised on 10 shots after useful tool Bill Ruger greased the skid with his "no honest man needs more than 15 rounds" remark because his P-89 was not selling as well as the Glock 17.

And keep in mind that Violence Policy Center has been trying to get accurate hunting and target rifles banned, calling them "sniper rifles".

The anti's thus have tried to ban guns for being too big, too small, too weak, too powerful, too inaccurate, too accurate, etc.

The common denominator in these shootings is MENTAL HEALTH. Or the lack thereof. We need to help the people with mental illness. We can't just give them a pill and say "see you later". If people are a danger to the good people they need to be institutionalized. No more letting murderers out early for (good) behaviour. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
