How did the 1st place winner get 1st place if the other two also shot 98?

What us820 said. Long run. They settle by looking at the scores of the individual rounds starting with the first round and on until settled. The winner had 25,24xx which beat the first rounds of the other tied shooters.

We had some of the same problems with the determining the winners with the Southern Illinois Youth Shooting Association. We needed to eliminate shoot offs as the kids would shoot as squads that might string out most of the day. We also wanted a way of not having to pull the score sheets to count longest runs. With our system, we first would give the win to the most 25's, then go to the longest run after the first 25. With our rules, the kid with 75 straight would have taken first. The 50 takes second. If there were no 25's, or if there were ties, then we pull the cards and go with longest straight after the first 25. Our system is as fair as anyone could suggest.

    regards,

    Todd / Illinois
