Early in my trap boy carrier, I set targets in a non pitted traphouse. The walls of the house were made from bails of hay and the roof was plywood laid across the hay bails. The shoot was behind a small country Church that has a turkey shoot fund raiser. Between events, I also had to catch the turkeys that were gobbling in a small pen, tie their legs and put them into the trunks of the winners cars. Fresh turkey always seem to taste a little better than the frozen birds.

I have not seen a trap house that has a flat roof. Do they not build them that way anymore?

Why are some trap houses really tall while some are shorter? Are there regulations regarding how the houses are built?

There are regulations and you can find them clearly stated in the ATA rules. From memory I think it is 2'2" to 2'10" above the plain on post 3.
