"In 1980, Gaston Glock was the manager of a car-radiator factory just outside Vienna. At home, he ran a side business in his garage, making knives and bayonets for the Austrian army. He lived in a comfortable though not overly prosperous way, all but unknown beyond his corner of Austria. He knew next to nothing about firearms. Less than 20 years later, he was the world's leading manufacturer of handguns, and the business born in his garage had annual revenues of more than $100 million."

And no mention of how the anti-gun organizations here LIED and claimed how the Glock could go undetected by airport metal detectors, and how Hollyweird picked up on that falsehood and ran with it in a Die Hard sequel?

And now - every handgun company on Earth is copying his idea.

Like it or not - that's a pretty good definition of success. Especially for someone who'd never designed a gun before.

The Glock indeed has the sex appeal of a car radiator.

But you can't argue with success.

Couldn't say it any better. I can't remember the last time my Glock was more than 25 feet away from me.

As for the comment about Glocks having the sex appeal of a car radiator, I completely disagree.

What does sex appeal have to do with it? What are you doing with these guns?

Glocks are great as long as you don't shoot cast bullets. I have seen several that fell apart after about a year of shooting cast bullets in competition.

A lot of innovation has occured since the original release of the G17. That is an interesting point about the 17th iteration. I always assumed it was because it carried a 17 round magazine.
